Overview
Kisole Baptist Primary School is located right on the border of Uganda and Kenya. They requested a new school building to replace their mud structures. The school had a strong attendance but very poor resources and facilities.
After driving 4 hours on pot hole filled roads, we finally arrived in Busia town. We tried to find somewhere to get refreshments, but the local shops only served warm coke and stale bread.
After driving along the border of Kenya/Uganda we arrived at the school and were greeted by the local pastor and head teachers. The children sang for us.
We were very impressed by the attendance of this remote school, although the facilities were very poor. They owned five acres of land, but only one completed mud building (which doubles as the church) and 2 partially built mud huts. The extra classes met under the trees.
Kisole Baptist Primary School was completed in July 2006 thanks to funding from Regent Grammar School, Kilmaine Primary School & Ballycarrickmaddy Primary School.
